We are very happy to announce the incorporation of another Spanish library to the NAPLE Sister Libraries program.

The Gijón Municipal Library Network is made up of 11 information units: 5 libraries in integrated centres and 6 neighbourhood libraries. It also has a special library, the Patient Library at the Cabueñes Hospital, with which it has a collaboration agreement.

The mission of the Gijón Municipal Library Network is to manage public reading services in this municipality, as well as to organise and develop programmes and activities to encourage reading, user training and information literacy. It is also responsible for the organisation of the Café Gijón Novel Prize, the María Elvira Muñiz Prize for the promotion of reading, the Gijón Leyendo Photography Competition, POEX Poetry in Xixón, and participates in the organisation of the Xixón Book Fair (FeLiX).

If you want to know more about the Gijón Municipal Library Network, and what they are looking for just go to the Libraries Section and click on its name. You’ll find it under Spanish tab. You’ll also find there a detailed description of their activities and the specific project they want to develop in the Sister Libraries Program.
