Our NAPLE Sister Libraries contact for Croatia, Ana Dadić , has sent us this news by Kristian Ujlaki, from the Public Library “Fran Galovic” in Koprivnica, Croatia, on their sistership with the Sastamala Public Library in Finland.

Cooperation between Public library „Fran Galovic“ Koprivnica and Sastamala City library is continuing in very positive and beneficial way.

During the 2012 annual IFLA conference in Helsinki, Finland, our manager Mrs. Dijana Sabolovic Krajina visited our sister library in Sastamala. It was very useful visit and some joint projects were proposed. One of it was paper that was presented at 11th Round Table on Mobile Libraries in Croatia and 5th Festival of Croatian Mobile Libraries, National Conference with International Participation, 19th April 2013, Koprivnica, Croatia. Authors of paper „Mobile libraries in Koprivnica and Sastamala: the role of the Croatian-Finnish cooperation in planning better quality services“ are Kaisa Kytomäki from Public Library Sastamala and Dijana Sabolovic Krajina from Public Library „Fran Galovic“ Koprivnica who presented this paper at the Conference.

Here is part of abstract for this paper which provides insight of importance of cooperation and role of NAPLE project:

„Public library „Fran Galović“ in Koprivnica, Croatia and City library in Sastamala, Finland have established co-operation in the spring of 2012 through the Program NAPLE Sister libraries. The goal of this program is a development of co-operation and partnership between public libraries in different European countries within the topics that are of common interest to the linked libraries. Additional value of this program is to develop a personal and professional contacts and contribute to multicultural understanding.

 The libraries in Koprivnica and Sastamala are medium-sized in the relations of their countries and serve the medium-sized cities with a populationof about 30,000 inhabitants. Exchange of knowledge and experience in the providing services to the users, as well as organizing joint cultural and educational activities are in a focus of their initial cooperation. On eof the theme are mobile libraries’ services.

 Despite the differences rooted in specific national library policies and traditions, organizational and work models, as well as socio-cultural and economic context, the mobilel ibraries of Koprivnica and Sastamala share a number of similarities in their cultural, educational, communication and social tasks“.
