The Book Terrace, established in the courtyard of the Grigory Kanovich Public Library of Jonava District Municipality (Lithuania), this summer is already celebrating its seventh year of existence. Children and young people can spend their summer holidays right here – surrounded by books and blooming flowers! This summer 13 cultural events will take place on the Book Terrace: educations, theatrical readings, performances. The project “Vacation on the Book Terrace. Summer with a fairy tale” is being implemented and will give an opportunity to our community to have wonderful memories and good time!
Every summer Wednesday here you will find theaters and their performances from different Lithuania cities:
“Teatriukas” with the performance “Tales on the phone”
Theater “Avilys” and their performance “Princess and the Hogwarts”,
Alytus puppet theater “Aitvaras” will show the play “Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf”,
“Stalo teataras” presents the performances “Eglė – Queen of Serpents”, “How the Fisherman Went to the Sky” and theatrical readings of the fairy tale with creative workshops “Goldilocks and the Star”, “Bezdukas on the Lake Shore”.
The Kaunas State Puppet Theater will invite you to the educational programs “The Enchanting World of H.K. Andersen”, “Be a Tiger!”. We will also welcome guests from the port city!
Klaipėda theater “Lino lėlės” will perform “Zuvėjėlis”.
Furthermore, “Baisiai gražu” by Wind Theater, “Funny Tales from the Pocket” (Bravo Theater) and the highly anticipated “Puppet Carriage Theater” from Panevėžys with children’s favorite fairy tale “Three Bears”.
Here is such a rich summer plan! With this project, we aim to increase the involvement of vacationing children in cultural activities that promote creativity, knowledge, interest in literature and reading. In these educational events and theater performances, children will experience the therapeutic, educational effect of fairy tales, get acquainted with various forms of theater, ways of presenting fairy tales, and participate in creative workshops.
We wish you nice summer with a book!
