The project is being implemented during school summer holidays in cooperation with Koprivnica elementary school- 3rd grade children, their teachers and librarian.

Main goal is to interest children for non-compulsory literature, to improve their reading skills and extend vocabulary during school holidays. Besides, other objectives are also to develop teamwork and to acquire the habit of visiting the library. Librarians prepared high quality, funny literature, children will choose the title and at the time of return they fill out a short questionnaire to check. For a correctly completed questionnaire, the participant gets a sticker for his class and the best class gets gold medals at the end.

This year’s project includes 90 pupils who will all attend the closing program of the Summer Reading Olympics on the occasion of the International Literacy Day. Last year, 49 out of 68 pupils participated in project. Children with reading difficulties were also included because there were books adapted for them, as they are in this year’s edition.

According to the survey, 86% of children expressed great satisfaction with the project so we hope that satisfaction and good response will not miss this year, too.
