Description of sistership
In 2015, the public library of the municipality of Panevėžys district of Lithuania and Ivan Tavčar's library of Sovėnia Škofja Loka became sisters. After deciding to be friends, we started looking for common points of contact . We discovered that the month of February is historically important for both countries and decided to exchange art exhibitions in that month every year. This tradition has been going on for several years. It helps us get to know each other better. Colleagues from Slovenia included us in a very successful project - "Recipes for dishes from three countries". The recipes were collected and offered by library readers from three countries - Slovenia, Finland and Lithuania. Later they turned into a publication available to library visitors. Another interesting project is to exchange recordings of folk tales before Christmas (which we make ourselves) and they are later used in education or events for children. Our joint activities are interesting and readers are happy to get involved in them.
