We’d like to share some of the highlights from the July programme at the Municipal Library of Santa Maria da Feira. The library has prepared a wide range of cultural and educational activities designed for visitors of all ages.
Many of these initiatives are creative, engaging, and could easily inspire similar programmes in other libraries. Here are some of our favourite activities:
Music and Stories for Babies

This interactive session combines music, storytelling, and sensory experiences to encourage young children’s creativity, communication, and emotional development. It also offers families the chance to spend meaningful time together while introducing babies to the world of books and music in a fun and welcoming environment.
Board Games Workshop

Modern board games have become increasingly popular thanks to their ability to entertain while promoting learning. These sessions encourage participants to develop strategic thinking, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in an inclusive setting that welcomes players of different ages and experience levels.
The Library Goes to the Beach

Throughout July, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, the Municipal Library’s bookmobile visits Mâmoa River Beach, bringing library services closer to summer visitors. In addition to offering free access to books, newspapers, and magazines, the mobile library organises recreational and educational activities, creating opportunities for reading, learning, and community engagement in a relaxed outdoor setting.
