The long-awaited app Library Coser to You (Biblioteka arčiau tavęs) was launched by Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library (Lithuania) on the 26th of April. This is the first app that connects services of public libraries of Panevėžys region to the virtual network. It is a great discovery tool for both individual users and educators.
It is symbolic that Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė library presented the app during the National Week of Lithuanian Libraries and made a meaningful contribution to this year’s slogan New reality – new forms.
During the global pandemic, virtual services became a new reality, allowing libraries to stay in touch with their users and delight them with the products the library is developing. Launching the app makes virtual space services even more diverse and accessible.
The Library Closer to You app combines many different library services and entertainment stuff provided by public libraries in Panevėžys region. Here, visitors can find games and tests, browse the databases subscribed by libraries, read e-books, travel virtually around Panevėžys and Utena region, use the map of educations created by libraries and many other things.
The app is also useful for teachers who can easily find the educational programs of the Panevėžys region libraries included in the Culture Passport program.
It is important to mention that the app is not limited to publicizing virtual services. It also provides users with information about the traditional library services.
