Our colleague Sara Gago, from Ermua Municipal Library (Spain) sends us the information of a new activity between this library and its sister,Library Tielt-Winge  (Belgium) to commemorate the International Children’s Book Day (ICBD), set on 2 April, on or around Hans Christian Andersen’s birthday and celebrated since 1967. Their proposal has materialised in three activities:

  • The creation of a poster with pictures of children that are patrons of both libraries holding their favourite book, including a list of the most borrowed books in 2013:

  • A video from Library Tielt-Winge  featuring some of the children photographed for the poster briefly explaining their reading preferences that can be watched through this link:

  •  Another video from Ermua Municipal Library with children explaining which of the library services they use. These interviews are multilingual in Euskera, Spanish, English and French to show the diversity of languages involving the children’s education in Ermua and for this children to see the usefulness of what they learn at school:
