Some of the Sister Libraries have applied (and succeeded) to grants from the European Commission. The most relevant examples are the project Library, I love it!, where 8 public libraries 4 of which were Sister Libraries got a Grundtvig  grant or the LinkINjob program, granted by Erasmus+.

Now, under the program Creative Europe, the European Comission has published 2 calls for proposals to access to funding, one for European cooperation projects and another for projects related to the European Year of cultural Heritage 2018.

Public Libraries in Europe involved in a sistership contributes through their existence and activities to the objectives of the program, i. e. to to strengthen the capacity of the European cultural sectors to operate transnationally; to contribute to audience development with a particular focus on children, young people, people with disabilities and underrepresented groups.

In  the case of the program for European cooperation project, projects must have a maximum duration of 48 and, depending on the category they’re funded differently:

  • For small scale cooperation projects (Category 1), the EU grant requested cannot be more than EUR 200 000, representing maximum 60% of the total eligible costs.
  • For large scale cooperation projects (Category 2), the EU grant requested cannot be more than EUR 2 000 000, representing maximum 50% of the total eligible costs.

in the call “Support for European cooperation projects related to the European Year of cultural Heritage 2018”, eligible applicants must be European cultural operators active in the cultural and creative sectors and excludes Higher education institutions, Research institutions and and Tourism organisations.

Eligible projects must have a maximum duration of 24 months and there’s only one category: the EU grant requested cannot be more than EUR 200 000, representing maximum 60% of the total eligible costs.

Both programs allow you to pay the percentage not funded in kind. This term refers to any non-cash contribution. For example, contributions in the form of durable goods and equipment, disposal of premises, voluntary work and sponsoring of goods.
