The 19th EIFL Public Library Innovation Award is for public and community libraries in developing and transition economy countries that are including STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) activities in their services and programmes. STEAM is a learning approach that stimulates curiosity and creativity, and builds skills that are useful for education, work and day-to-day life, like problem solving, critical thinking, communications and collaboration, while simultaneously developing knowledge of STEAM subjects.
We’re happy to share that some libraries in the NSL program have already won this award! The Piekary Śląskie Municipal Library from Poland won it in 2014. In 2017, two Lithuanian libraries were honored: the Kaunas Municipal Library Vincas Kudirka and the Plungė Municipal Library. Most recently, in 2020, the Prelog Municipal Library from Croatia was awarded.
The 19th EIFL Public Library Innovation Award aims to recognize outstanding and engaging public and community library STEAM activities.
The deadline for applications is Monday, 10 November 2025.
