Although man landed on the Moon, the Universe is still full of secrets, especially the one that each of us carries within ourselves. Under the slogan A Universe of Secrets, Fran Galovic Koprivnica Public Library announces summer program to celebrate 50th anniversary of Moon landing with different activities for children, youth and adults during July and August 2019.

Children can get to know A Universe of Secrets through reading, play and hands-on exploration during programs like:

workshop Close Your Eyes and Look at Stars in partnership with Association of Blind;

creative storytelling Historical Flight to the Moon;

art workshop The Glider;

dance festival Little Stars Dance;

storytelling program Talking French Stories about Moon;

computer workshops;

Children’s Reading Club meetings.

All summer kids can play Play Station, social games and discover our rich book collection on the Universe theme, which will be presented through library exhibitions. Summer Reading Olympics 2019 are also on. The project is being implemented during school summer holidays in cooperation with Koprivnica elementary school- 3rd grade children, their teachers and librarians. More than 200 students are expected to attend and librarians have prepared 55 novels to read.

Library users and followers have also opportunity to fill the online knowledge quiz Planets, Stars and Galaxies available on the library website. For adults, there will be the summer edition of TEDxKoprivnicaLibrary where TED video projections on “The Universe” and “The Power of the Game in our Everyday Life” themes will be displayed. Fran Galovic Koprivnica Public Library also announces creative contest on Instagram, too. #SFantasticSummer – Instagram contest for teenagers aged 13 to 19 for the best photo inspired by books of science fiction and fantasy. Competition lasts a whole summer and pictures with most likes will be awarded.
