Krajská knihovna v Pardubicích (Regional Regional Library in Pardubice, Czech Republic) participated in the preliminary round of the national “Wolker’s Prostějov” competition.
On March 10, 2026, the Regional Library in Pardubice selected the best reciters from among students and the general public as part of a regional qualifying competition WOLKER´S PROSTĚJOV. Participation required completion of basic education, and no upper age limit was set. The youngest participant was 15 years old, and the oldest was 71!
Wolker’s Prostějov is a showcase of the most inspiring performances by solo reciters, recitation groups, and poetry theatre ensembles in the Czech Republic. It provides an opportunity for performers of literary texts to meet, compare their creative outcomes and approaches, and engage in mutual inspiration, exchange of opinions and experiences, as well as education.
The mission of the showcase is also to foster interest among teachers, students, and the wider public in literature and its creative interpretation, to initiate and enrich further activities in the field of artistic recitation and poetry theatre across individual regions of the Czech Republic, and to develop year-round educational opportunities for performers, their teachers, leaders, and directors.
The Pardubice Region must be full of talented reciters, as the jury’s evaluation was demanding and, if it had been possible, they would have recommended nearly all participating reciters, both younger and older, for the national round.
The entire day took place in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, enriched by engaging texts and breathtaking performances. We are proud that our library has been taking part in the selection round for the fifteenth year.
