Description: Šiauliai City Municipality Public Library is located in Šiauliai, the fourth largest city in Lithuania. The library has 10 branches throughout the city. Lending of books remains an important function of the library, but the main task of the library is to educate, inform the public and provide meaningful leisure opportunities for all (children, adults, seniors, families, the disabled, the socially vulnerable, etc.). New solutions are being introduced, and library visitors of all generations are being introduced to new and smart technologies, encouraging their use for self-education purposes, overcoming language and technology fear barriers. As a result, the library is increasingly becoming a community attraction and meeting space. Currently, the library has an innovative and colorful Comic Center, where both adults and children can get acquainted with the variety of comics, unleash their creativity by creating comics and super heroes. You can also try out the 3D printer, robotics and other technological innovations there. In the Family Space set up in the library, both children of different age groups and families can have fun and enjoy their leisure time using interactive technologies (interactive tables, floors, an interactive learning tool „Hopspots“, illuminated glass easels, sand and light tables, Xbox games, etc.). Those who want to learn as many as 7 foreign languages (English, Russian, Spanish, Italian, German, French, Latvian) can visit the Library's Foreign Language Learning Center. 30 computer workstations for visitors of all age groups have been created there. There are individual and group trainings on how to use the foreign language self- learning program "EuroTalk Interactive", non-traditional foreign language lessons, educational quizzes among learners. The latest library space - Karaoke space - provides an opportunity to spend free time singing and finding like-minded people. The library also hosts many different educational workshops, such as Kamishibai Theater, Shadow Theater, and more. It is often visited by groups of students who try out both innovative and traditional library services. The library has a rich experience in working with local and international volunteers. Therefore, Šiauliai City Municipality Public Library’s aim is to remain an evolving, communicating and cooperating library that can respond to the needs of all generations.
