The City Library Don Mihovil Pavlinović (ENLACE) proudly serves as the cultural and informational center of the Imotska Krajina region. Today, we are delighted to announce that the library’s director, Dr. Marija Jović, has been honoured for her outstanding contributions to Croatia’s cultural landscape.
This year, Dr. Jović received the prestigious Dr. Ljerka Markić-Čučuković Foundation Award, which recognizes excellence in the advancement of the library profession and librarianship. This is a valuable award from the Foundation, which operates at the Department of Library Science at the Faculty of Philosophy in Zagreb. Reflecting on the recognition, Dr. Jović shared: “The Ljerka Markić-Čučuković Award is a significant award because it is awarded by the profession. It is therefore particularly important to me personally because it is awarded by exceptional professional scientists at the Faculty of Philosophy, University of Zagreb, from the Department of Library Science. This award not only confirms my professional excellence but also inspires me to work harder on myself personally and professionally every day”.
Just months prior to receiving this award, Dr. Jović was also honoured with the Personal Award of Split-Dalmatia County for her remarkable efforts in promoting religious, cultural, and historical values, as well as for her work in preserving the region’s cultural heritage.
Looking ahead to spring 2025, Dr. Jović is among the finalists for Person of the Year of the Imotski Region, an annual recognition presented by Radio Imotski. This award honors individuals who have significantly contributed to the development and progress of the Imotski region in fields such as economy, society, politics, humanitarian work, and culture throughout 2024.
