Knowle Library, one of our 6 libraries in England, has organised a reading activity to share with everyone. Enjoy reading!

Each year the libraries across the U.K take part in the Summer Reading Challenge scheme. The scheme motivates over 700.000 children of all abilities to read for enjoyment over the summer holidays. The Challenge is organised and run by The Reading Agency who set a different theme each year. This year’s theme is Ready Set Read and is based around sports and games, and this year is partnering with the national children’s charity the Youth Sport Trust.

The challenge is for children aged 4-1 1 to read 6 books during their summer holiday. They will gain rewards and incentives along the way. Once they have completed the challenge, they will receive a certificate and medal and will be entered into prize draws to win some fantastic prizes.

Here at Knowle Library we have had over 300 children register for the scheme and with the help and encouragement of staff and volunteers we have listened to children tell us about all the wonderful books they have read.

The library has been decorated with colourful displays to motivate children to come in the library and take part in this exciting challenge.
