This project was organised by the Municipal Library Tábor (Czech Republic) and Miejska Biblioteka Publiczna w Chrzanowie (Poland). It encompassed science, reading, and international friendship. The aim was not only to popularize reading, but also to show children that space is within reach – and that even a small stuffed character loved by generations has been there.

The Municipal Library Tábor held several events where children were introduced to Little Mole, the flights of Czech and Polish astronauts, and planned future space missions. Many thanks to the librarians and Mr. Milan Halousek from the KOSMOS-NEWS association for their support of this project.

The project concluded with a creative workshop: Space Map of Friendship, where children created a map of past and future space flights and a map of their own dreamed flights. These two children’s universes are connected by a flying rocket.

In the Polish library the meeting with children took place as part of the Young Scientist Zone. The topic “People in Space” proved to be a fascinating journey through the history and current reality of space exploration.

Children were introduced to Little Mole, the flights of Czech and Polish astronauts, interesting questions about space and many other activities, including drawing and an argumentation exercise. Many thanks to the Polish librarians who prepared an excellent programme. Working with them is enjoyable and enriching. We are delighted to have discovered a new interest in the topic of space among children on both sides.
