Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library (Lithuania) and Pyhäjoki Municipal Library (Finland), cooperating in the NAPLE Sister Libraries program, share their work experience in the field of library services, projects and various initiatives.

On the 21st of April, 2022 at the remote experience sharing event organized by the Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library, the manager of this library, Heikki Lahnaoja, shared the interesting experience of the Pyhäjoki Municipal Library in organizing jazz, rock and folk music concerts and poetry readings.

In the Finnish municipal libraries of Raahe, Pyhäjoki and Siikajoki, the project “Kaikki Kotona“ (“Everyone is at home”) is being implemented, which is related to the improvement of library services for immigrants. Like in other European countries, the number of immigrants has recently been increasing in Finland as well, so in order to achieve a smoother integration, libraries are implementing various projects to achieve this goal.

Together with other Lithuanian libraries, the Panevėžys County Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library participated in the online conference “Sharing Good Practices for Libraries”, which was organized by Finnish colleagues on the 8th of December, 2022. Virginija Švedienė, the adult education activities coordinator of the library, told how the Gabrielė Petkevičaitė-Bitė Public Library contributes to the process of Ukrainian immigrants integration, what activities or services it offers, what challenges it faces and how it solves them.
