Description: Iisalmi City Library is located in Ylä-Savo area in Eastern Finland. “Iisalmi, a vibrant Savo town surrounded by lakes and rivers, is the functional centre of the 57 688 inhabitant Ylä-Savo region. The 22 100 inhabitants of the town can enjoy living in a safe and inspiring environment close to nature. The city centre is encircled by lakes, rivers and hilly terrain.” www. Iisalmi.fi The library is located in the cultural centre and is part of cultural services. It is the biggest library in the library network Rutakko, which consists of nine public libraries in the area. Iisalmi City library does not have branch libraries but has a mobile library Pokkari and it has about 130 stops in the Iisalmi region. Library collection has approximately 150.000 volumes. The most common materials are printed books, magazines and DVDs. The library also loans e-material, console games and musical instruments for its customers. There are over 200 events and 80 user-training sessions organized yearly. For example author visits, story hours, book talk sessions, information retrieval training etc. Library staff consists of 14 professionals and 1-3 persons in practical training or hired with employment funds.
