On the occasion of the Night of Museums, the Panevėžys Elena Mezginaite Public Library (Lithuania) invited the residents of Panevėžys to a fun and engaging gaming space, where there was no shortage of activities for both children and adults. Here, entertainment, knowledge, excitement, and good mood came together: everyone was invited to spend time in a meaningful and fun way.

A board game evening was held at the Šaltinėlis library (one of the library’s branches). Everyone found a suitable challenge for themselves – from words to strategic, logical, adventure, and excitement-filled games. And if a game really got you involved, participants could take it home and continue the adventure at home. The library staff organized a fun cognitive task for visitors to discover three personalities associated with Panevėžys and its region. The participants studied book covers, read the names of authors, and looked for famous women and men from the Panevėžys region. This activityinspired people to explore literature, the city’s past, and the famous personalities of the Panevėžys region. Meanwhile, the little ones had a task to place the printed names of the book’s characters next to the corresponding book.

At the same time, a library play area opened outside the Panevėžys Local Loremuseum. Everyone could join exclusive, active activities related to local culture and knowledge.

The game “Etno” took participants to the ethnographic regions of Lithuania: Aukštaitija, Samogitia, Dzūkija, Suvalkija, and Lithuania Minor. By spinning the wheel and answering questions, players discovered interesting facts about the traditions and customs of different regions.

The game “Pereik Panevėžys” (Cross Panevėžys) received special attention, inviting them to get to know the city in a playful way – by traveling the streets, meeting famous personalities, and overcoming unexpected challenges.

Literature lovers could test their knowledge in the game “Literary Character”, in which they had to identify various book heroes from clues.

Classic fans gathered around the large-format, engaging wooden “XO” game – the simple idea of tic-tac-toe turned into a thrilling strategic battle.

This project breathed new life into Museum Night, turning the library into a bustling, warm space where people gather to connect, learn, and discover.
